- World Wide Web consortium is an organisation that develops standards for the interoperability of web based products.
Energy Consumption Standards:
- All manufactured computers should use or consume as little energy as possible.
Security Standards:
- Respecting privacy of user data.
- Respecting the use of networks.
- Respecting the intended use clients data.
Software Standards:
- What client side OS to use. eg. Windows 7, Linux Ubuntu
- What server side OS to use. eg. Windows Server 2003, Ubuntu Server
- What Office Suite to use. eg. Open Office, Libre Office, Microsoft Office
Hardware Standards:
- What laptops and desktops to use.
- What printers to use.
Network Standards:
- What web standards to use.
- What speed and range of wireless to use.
Development Standards:
- Use of Flowcharts
- Use of Data Flow Diagrams
- Use of Gantt Charts
Documentation Standards:
- Software and Hardware being sold commercially should include:
user guidelines, installation guidelines and technical support.
IT Legislation Standards:
- Data-Protection act.
- Computer misuse act.
- Copyright act.
